In the past few weeks, it is easily gathered that the release for Halo Infinite slated for the launch day of the Xbox Series X this November might have been more ambitious than it was anticipated. Not even a month following the game’s gameplay demo being presented, developer 343 Industries unfortunately announced that Halo Infinite would be receiving a much needed push into 2021 to work out some difficulties internally for the game’s current development state.
Not too long after the delay, Phil Spencer when speaking on Animal Talking with Gary Whitta disclosed that him alongside 343 Industries and Xbox Game Studios did contemplate the idea of shipping Halo Infinite in segments with later releases to follow. But Spencer ultimately decided to hold off on the complete project to properly ship the game in its entirety next year.
And amid the current problems that Halo Infinite faces, things might start to be resolved with a familiar face returning to the franchise. In that, series veteran Joseph Staten announced to be taking a leadership role within 343 Industries to lead the team in an appropriate direction for the next installment.
What steps will be taken for Staten to properly direct 343 Industries for Halo Infinite is currently undetermined, but that he will be the first from the trilogy returning surely is a good sign for the series. In comparison, the announcement can be seen in alignment to The Coalition. Founding a new team, series veteran Rod Fergusson took the helm when kicking off a new line of Gears of War entries. So for the same to be structured for Halo is certainly a positive sign.
In the midst of the announcement, many speculate that the project could be facing a later release due to its new mentorship at 343 Industries. While there was the possible window for Q121 suggested from the interview with Phil Spencer, followers are now expecting a later holiday 2021 release for the game to be a more reasonable timeframe for Halo Infinite.
Elsewhere recently, 343 Industries denounced the recent slew of rumors that circulated around Halo Infinite. Community Manager John Junyszek told that the team will not be dismissing the game’s Xbox One version and the game will not exceed its 2021 release into the following year.
