In the past month, Gearbox Software continues to dance around the idea of a new Borderlands title. While a mainline installment is sure to be out of the picture – a la Borderlands 3 shipping back in 2019 – a spin-off is the likeliest chances. Previously, Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford denounced any claims of the team working on said game nor supported the alleged project being outsourced to a separate studio.
What made the report even more surprising is that even Bloomberg Tech’s Jason Schreier went on to entertain a new list of rumors that included the Borderlands spin-off. In that, a roster of claims on Reddit included the cover athlete for NBA 2K22, a sci-fi release from Hanger 13, and an XCOM-style Marvel from developer Firaxis.
On Twitter on Monday, Geoff Keighley teased a new announcement from Gearbox Software & 2K is to take place during Summer Game Fest and linking a domain, BeChaoticGreat.com, as well.
However, what makes the hinting even more eye-opening is a discovery from @Wario64 on Twitter. Following the announcement, the user dug through the code for the website which reveals the title ‘Wonderlands’ which is likely to be the name for the unannounced games. And by extension, also looks likely to also pair Tiny Tina as the protagonist, alike the rumor also said.
In other recent Borderlands-oriented news, a line of photographs from Jamie Lee Curtis reveals the cast for the upcoming theatrical film as well. The images mentioned features Lilith, Roland, Dr. Tannis, Tiny Tina, Krieg, and Claptrap. You can read the full report by heading here.
Are you excited to see Wonderlands when it gets revealed?
Summer Game Fest is scheduled to go live on June 20, 2021 at 11 AM PST / 2 PM EST.
