
Since the founding of Santa Monica developer The Initiative back in 2018, little details on what the studio has been behind for the following years surfaced. But, potential information did surface following the team’s original feature at the time. In that, one former developer on LinkedIn listed his work on specified spy equipment for the coming title. The game studio also went on to recruit a handful of developers from namely releases.
Such as Chris O’Neill & Erik Jakobsen that both worked on God of War (2018) and former The Last of Us Part II developer Francisco Aisa GarcÃa. However, previous Sunset Overdrive developer Drew Murray in early 2021 announced his departure from the team. Murray went on to announce his return to Insomniac Games to reprise his former role at the team.
In a new announcement on Twitter, now former Counterplay Games Senior Environment Artist Alex Beddows announces to be heading towards The Initiative. Beddows will be transitioning from Godfall to the new Perfect Dark project.
Back in December of this past year, The Initiative announced Perfect Dark. While speculation already determined the unannounced project to be a resurrection of the once Rare developed series, it finally made the official announcement. In addition, the developer spoke to mention the game is still in early development since with no further details.
Regarding the previous Godfall, it appears the game is on the verge of being announced for more systems. Originally, the game was slated to be a six month console exclusive for PlayStation 5. But it was recently discovered that a PlayStation 4 version of the game is underway. You can read the full report by heading here.
