In the most recent weeks, 343 Industries has been slowly seeping out new details regarding Halo Infinite ever since the game’s live gameplay demo that took place late last month. In the discoveries for the Xbox Series X launch title, 343 Industries shared aspects of the game’s such as the online being free with 120 frames per second support on the newest console. The move is seen to open the floodgate for more players as the campaign will only be charged.
Additionally, fans shortly after the gameplay debut for Halo Infinite discovered that cross-platform play will be available to the cross-generation title, providing the feature to Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. However, this already illustrated to shine brighter than the current Halo: The Master Chief Collection since the 2014-released title does not offer cross-play.
Well actually, there is cross-play, but just mot on console. The support to bridge platforms is compatible between the Steam and Windows 10 versions of the Halo anthology bundle, as reported from the title’s PC specification requirements. But 343 Industries in a recent MCC Development Update pens that the feature will be present before 2020’s end.
In the post, the studio closes the piece by listing a handful of additions aimed to the game – cross-play being amongst them. Here is the full lineup of additions planned to hit the game during the remainder of this year:
- Crossplay
- Input Based MM
- Sever Region Selection
- Custom Game Browser
- Per Game Graphics Options
- Per Game Audio Options
- M&K Support for Xbox
- PC Fileshare
- Double Keybinds for all games
- Viewmodel adjustments for all games
- In game FPS Cap/Adjustments
- Steam Account Linking
Dissecting the list further, 343 Industries also highlights some highly-requested features also slated for arrival. One being a Custom Game Browser: while the option is already available, it is a pseudo-process to install the files and becomes very tedious in contrast to in-house built browser. PC on the other hand is still waiting for the game to receive file share support that its console counterparts already use regularly.
Additionally, keyboard & mouse support is also another emphasized feature to be added for console users. On Xbox One, the implementation is done in-house to properly introduce the support for the PC peripheral to console. Title’s like Minecraft, Sea of Thieves, and Warframe already offer the feature.
Per release of the listed mechanics, 34 Industries shared the dates could not be shared. However, the firm did list that cross-play will be available in one bundle early on followed by the Custom game Browser alongside keyboard & mouse support in a second wave later on.
