Helldivers 2 Developer Denies Acquisition Reports By PlayStation

Although years before it would be considered the console race, now platform holders are entertaining another competition: acquisitions. Over the past decade, we’ve witnessed major consolidations for talent within the video game industry and has become a race for which console maker could beat to the punch. Of course, Microsoft is not hiding from this approach.

The most recent effort on this initiative was the finalizing on Activision Blizzard King this past fall. Additionally, Sony Interactive Entertainment is also partaking in this drive with a deal for Bungie back in 2022. But, false reports also happened as well. Rumors surfaced on the PlayStation firm buying CD Projekt Red & Take-Two Interactive; both were swiftly denounced.

In a new string of claims online, it was indicated that the PlayStation firm is preparing to buy Arrowhead Game Studios – the team most responsible for the release of Helldivers 2. Although publishing the game, nothing was concrete on a deal. And even more is studio CEO Johan Pilestedt elaborating any claims online to be fabricated.

Pilestedt does this on multiple accounts. “This is fake… Unless I’ve missed something,” he responds on a separate post.” Also, a really shitty old logo from 2008 or so when we just started the studio.” Pilestedt also recently spoke on the future of Helldivers 2. While he does entertain plenty of post-launch support, he elaborates that PvP is not part of the plans as it would foster a toxic community online.

We also urge you read up on our review for Helldivers 2. “Arrowhead’s Helldivers 2 is an addictively fun co-op shooter that delivers explosive thrills and laughs, when it works at least. […] It is indeed a worthy successor to the original game, and a great homage to the sci-fi space action genre.” You can read the full piece by heading here.
