In the stretch of time since the release of Injustice 2 back in 2017, fans continue to count the days until the next entry in the series gets announced. But, the day never came. There one instance last August when players anticipated a potential announcement for Injustice 3 during DC Fandome in 2020 with NetherRealm Studios co-founder Ed Boon attending, however, he did not participate to make that reveal.
On Wednesday, however, Injustice finally broke the sound barrier with an eye-opening announcement. Rather than a game on the way, there instead will be a full-length animated movie based in the universe that will be delivered. As part of the bonus list for Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two DC Comics issues that the production is on the way.
“A sneak peek at the next DC animated movie – an advanced look at Injustice,” the details read as transcribed by Eurogamer. But, no additional details were provided including an expected release date nor the casting. It is assumed that most of the voice actors could reprise their roles from the game for the motion picture.
Of course, this will not be the first time NetherRealm Studios has been the source of a full-length film. Just this past April, Mortal Kombat hit theaters alongside debuting on HBO Max. But, the movie at the time originally projected for April 17 did not arrive until the week following on April 23 after. Even more, Sub Zero actor Joe Taslim signed to work on four additional films following the most recent release.
Additionally, there is also Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge. Arrived back in 2020, the animated production was directly handled by Warner Bros. Animation – likely the same firm that will be orchestrating the Injustice animated movie as well. You can read the full report by heading here.
