Actor Henry Cavill shared back in late May to have finished the filming for the first season of The Witcher as the project has transitioned into post-production through a post on Instagram. Despite there still being no set date for when anticipated fans of the based novels and video game adaptation, it was certain the show would arrive before the turning to 2020.
Prior to Cavill’s post on social media, it was revealed in an interview with Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos that the series based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s would arrive sometime in Q419. Specifically aimed for the Fall, this left a timeframe ranging between late September to stretching deep into the Holiday season for the show’s arrival.
Until this past weekend as Netflix has released a new trailer for the show which declared the official date for the project to release on December 20th. You can watch the new trailer below:
Although we do get a few more glimpses that was not show previously, the basis we learned from earlier trailers are about the same with this newest showing. One sequence that truly blew up the internet is of Henry Cavill posed in a bath which many fans would instantly recognize from the titular 2015 title. More so would be said for other glimpses of Geralt’s powers that players have used when playing the game as well.
More on the topic of video game series on the entertainment streaming platform, news surrounding the previously announced Devil May Cry show have yet to release following the initial detail nearly a year ago. Adi Shankar atop of his involvement with the Capcom-owned IP is also said to be working with Ubisoft to create another series based on Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.
