While fans await for a definitive Marvel title to arise from the multiple licensed agreements that the firm arranged with the likes of Square Enix & 2K, a rumor arose for a new property in the works from Civilization/SOCOM developer Firaxis Games. Earlier this summer, Bloomberg Tech’s Jason Schreier told that its was underway with plans for an announcement later on in 2021.
It was at Gamescom this past August that 2K & Firaxis Games announced Marvel’s Midnight Suns. The property is shaped up to be a Marvel-infused SOCOM experience as players can helm an assortment of superheroes from the roster of Marvel’s best for this new title. The game is slated to arrive later this March in 2022 next year.
However, a new update from Firaxis Games reveals the team requires more time with the project delaying its release well until the latter half of this year. There is no approximate date for the game following the statement.
“We decided to share that we’ve made the very tough decision to move our launch window to the second half of 2022,” the team expresses in the letterhead. “We know many fans were looking forward to playing the game originally next spring, and this decision did not come lightly. We decided to push our launch because we need more time to make this the best game possible.
“We believe in our creative vision for Marvel’s Midnight Suns and want to do justice in delivering an unforgettable adventure set in the supernatural side of Marvel. These extra months will be used to add more story, cinematics and overall polish and will be essential in helping us make our vision a reality.”
Recently, Skydance New Media helmed by industry veteran Amy Hennig shares that it will be collaborating with Marvel to develop a new AAA Action-Adventure IP. There is no details as to what superhero this partnership will transpire. You can read the full report by heading here.
