Although it felt like an era ago for users to be eagerly excited for Microsoft’s plans in regards to Xbox, it was not too long that many were questioning the decisions that they held towards the firm then. Now nearly a year following the release of its new Xbox Series platform, users are intrigued into the potential IPs that could birth from Xbox Game Studios moving forward.
Alongside namely franchises such as Halo and Forza alongside returning IPs like Perfect Dark & Fable now, there are other titles in the pipeline according to recent reports. In one story from Windows Central, two games codenamed Project Indus & Project Cobalt is underway in collaboration with Oxide Games and InXile Entertainment respectively. Atop of that, Xbox Game Studios is supposedly working on a “Cloud-native” MMO with studio Mainframe in a separate report.
In a new string of statements from both Window’s Central’s Jez Corden & GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb, there appears to be another project underway. From the GamesBeat Decides podcast, Grubb explains that a new title, Project Shaolin, is in the works at BrassLion Entertainment. You can view the segment of the video below:
Additionally, Corden goes on to corroborate the statement in greater detail. While Grubb remained discreet on the project, Corden explains that the new game is to feature a theme involving the musical group, the Wu-Tang Clan. He tells that the game is an action RPG with all the bells and whistles: full co-op support for four players and promised endgame content to keep players returning.
As you might decide already from the group’s involvement with the development, the Wu-Tang Clan is said to be responsible for the soundtrack for the game as well. Noted, BrassLion Entertainment is helmed by industry natives Bryna Dabby Smith who previously worked on Sleeping Dogs and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim alongside Manveer Heir that worked on the Mass Effect IP. The team’s age is young, but its combined experience answers for the partnership with Xbox.
Although it should be considered to remain hesitant on the matter until properly announced, it should be noted the last instance that both Grubb and Corden corroborated on a story. In that, the two hinted at the announcement of Forza Horizon 5 to be set in Mexico premature to the later reveal being just that. You can read the full report by heading here.
