
Evidently, Netflix is no stranger to the video game division. The streaming platform continues to deliver on its commitment in more video game adaptations. Just this past September unveiled three new projects underway – Devil May Cry, Onimusha, and Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft animes. No to mention the official airing for Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix as well.
Exploring more options, the firm has already confirmed games regarding its own properties are coming. Thus far, Stranger Things VR shares to be the catalyst for more to come. Not to mention the upcoming RPG from Super Evil Megacorp for Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon also. In a report from The Wall Street Journal, Netflix is even interested in consoling Grand Theft Auto for a release on its platform as well.
In the same report, there is also whispers on new, unannounced projects in the pipeline from the streaming platform. Sources tell The Wall Street Journal that Netflix is already pursuing games for Squid Games, Black Mirror, and even The Addams Family spin-off Wednesday too. However, it is not disclosed whether these titles are part of the mobile endeavor or beyond that.
This is not the first time that the industry has witnessed entertainment firms chase video games. From a previous announcement by Blumhouse Productions, it formed a new video game division to work on new titles based on its portfolio – Blumhouse Games. The initiative is said to only feature titles with budgets of roughly $10 million and details on what franchises will be involved was left unnamed.
