What was a major reveal for Microsoft at the time happened to be a smooth transition was the total acquisition of Zenimax Media/Bethesda. With it came the slew of studios such as Arkane Studios, Tango Gameworks, and id Software. With it also came properties and upcoming, unannounced projects as well. Previously, it was reported that Zenimax Online Studios was working on a new unnamed IP already for some time.
Namely, the team has been associated with its continued efforts for The Elder Scrolls Online since its inception back in 2014. Rewinding back to January earlier this winter, Xbox, Bethesda, and Zenimax Online Studios unveiled the next expansion for the online title – The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom Expansion. The new add-on would feature a new story campaign as players explore Morrowind in search for Apocrypha.
Now in a developing report from discoveries uncovered by @bogorad222 on Twitter, it is revealed Zenimax Online Studios now has a new division based in Hungary. The firm apparently acquired Nemesys Games – a studio based in Budapest, Hungary. However, according to other documents found online, this transaction was made last year.
According to a separate document filed by Hungary-based marketing domain Opten, the deal was settled in 2022. While the official price was not disclosed in the filing, it is confirmed that sometime last year Nemesys Games rebranded to ZeniMax Online Studios Hungary. Szabolcs Jozsa via LinkedIn confirms that the new branch is working on The Elder Scrolls Online & the aforementioned new IP as well.
Previously, Zenimax has made history for workers unionization. From Axios Gaming, it is revealed that a supermajority vote internally at the firm has unanimously decided in favor of union forming at Zenimax.
