At publisher Ubisoft, it is no secret the developer is establishing live-service experiences for its consumers. Already, players can indulge in its Rocket League-esque Roller Champions title for roughly a year now. Additionally, xDefiant is another example of this in the making as a recent beta for the game was held to test the cross-play features for the title.
Even more, Ubisoft has said the idea of transitioning its own Rainbow Six Siege into a free-to-play was on the table. “You need certain features ready to be a good and successful free-to-play game,” game director Leroy Athanassof told PC Gamer at the time. Now, the same can be said for Trackmania as Ubisoft establishes a new title this week ahead of next month’s Ubisoft Forward held in June.
In that, Trackmania is now arriving to Xbox, PlayStation, and Amazon Luna as a new experience as a free-to-play experience. You can watch the release date trailer in the video below:
“Play in an online multiplayer environment or solo against ghosts of players. Improve steadily thanks to innovative gameplay features, regionalized rankings and medals to collect, so you can race your way to the top,” the overview reads. “Face new challenges with a new season every three months and a wide variety of community tracks displayed in the ‘Track of the Day’ selection. There are also community campaigns in the hourly renewed arcade channel.”
It continues, “With the powerful Trackmania creation and sharing tools, you can create tracks using innovative gameplay blocks. You can also imagine game modes, paint 2D skins and edit replays.” Adding, “Join your favorite clubs to access exclusive content and activities such as skin customization, competitions, special campaigns, online rooms, and training tracks. Create your own club to share your creations, organize your events, stream your best races and offer your members a never-ending entertainment.”
Also, “Practice Trackmania esport by joining casual daily and weekly tournaments. Or face off against pro-level players in the Open Grand League to qualify for the Trackmania Grand League, the official worlwide competition.” Previously, Rectify Gaming also did a review on the older Trackmania Turbo which you can read in full by heading here.
