Nintendo chose not to attend Gamescom 2024, which was a shock at the time. However, reports came out from that event that Nintendo was showcasing the Switch 2 behind closed doors. Today, Nintendo announced it will be attending Gamescom 2025.
Gamescom will take place in Cologne, Germany, from August 20 to August 24, 2025. The announcement was made on X (Twitter) saying, “Mark it in red on your calendar – Nintendo will be back at Gamescom in 2025. We look forward to welcoming you from August 20 to 24 in Cologne.”

This is the first major event after the Switch 2 launch that Nintendo will be attending. The company has not revealed what will be at Gamescom. Nintendo does have multiple games planned to release this year and around the time of Gamescom.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land Star Crossed World DLC will have just been released when this event takes place. But we do know Kirby Air Riders, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, and Pokémon Legends Z-A will be releasing in late 2025. It’s possible we could see these games playable at Gamescom.
The Switch 2 will release on June 5, 2025, which is now only a few weeks away. During the Summer, we will see the release of Donkey Kong: Bananza and Drag X Drive, two other first-party titles for the console.
Are you excited for the future of the Switch 2?
