Looking ahead for this week’s Xbox Game Showcase which coincides with the Xbox 20/20 initiative leading up to the Xbox Series X arrival later this year, Microsoft plans to showcase its first-party lineup of entries that will be available uniquely to the Xbox platform when the next-generation console ships later this holiday season. As of writing, the only confirmed title to be present during the virtual show is 343 Industries’ Halo Infinite.

Especially with this year’s E3 being canned, Microsoft had some high-powered munitions on standby to shoot off that were shelved momentarily due to the cancellation. The studio disclosed last month that its coming entry will, in a way, steal the show if it took place this June. Howbeit, the other lingering titles also coming out of Xbox Game Studios are also illustrated to be projects to keep an eye out for as well.

Other games such as Ninja Theory’s Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is another hallmark release for the platform graphically after learning that the title will be utilizing the potential of the upcoming Unreal Engine 5. While more tame projects such as Rare’s Everwild is another entity on its own that stands out to bring new life to Xbox players either it being on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or PC via Windows 10.

Expanding on that specifically, it was reported earlier today that the coming lineup of titles for Xbox Series X are the most unique in the history of the platform. Speaking with Polygon, Xbox Head Phil Spencer elaborates that Xbox Game Studios is pushing out “the most diverse collection of first-party games that we’ve ever had.”

I honestly think we’re in the best launch lineup position that we’ve ever been on Xbox. When I think about the strength and depth of the games that people are going to be able to play day one on Xbox Series X — not only because of [backward compatibility] — and the way that Game Pass really allows the total cost of ownership of our console, I think is a real strength.

The statement – despite not sharing much on its contents for the coming generation of titles – does illustrate to intersect with Spencer’s confidence for this Thursday’s presentation. Earlier this month, the Xbox head spoke with PureXbox where he disclosed to be very eager to unveil what is coming to define the Xbox Series X’s unique library.

Elaborating more, Xbox Game Studios lead Matt Booty also shared a similar story regarding the scope of differentiating properties coming out of the first-party studio network. “We are also always on the lookout to try to build relationships with studios that are founded and run by people that are different than what we’ve had in the industry for the last couple of decades.

“I think you’ll see some of the titles that we’ve got in our showcase coming up hopefully represent work that we’re trying to do there to bring in different groups and really represent them with respect.”

What do you anticipate to come from Xbox Game Studios later this week?

The Xbox Game Showcase will be taking place on July 23, 2020 at 9 AM PST / 12 PM EST; Xbox Series X is set to launch sometime in holiday 2020.
