While many aspects of PlayStation are directly associated with its games that were released for its video game platform, Sony Interactive Entertainment has its own ideas for where to explore next. In that, entertainment is the new initiative for the firm with the opening of PlayStation Productions. So far, projects like The Last of Us on HBO and the Uncharted movie appears to find a foundation already.
Additionally, it has been confirmed a Twisted Metal TV show which most recently was pressed to be streaming on Peacock later upon its arrival. But, it does not end there it appears. In an interview of the box office release for the Uncharted film, director Ruben Fleischer does verify that a Jak & Daxter adaptation is in motion currently.
But, Deadline in a new report shares that Prime Video is now interested in adapting God of War into a television series. While not set in stone just yet, this sits alongside the already confirmed Fallout TV series starring Walter Goggins. Recently, Prime Video was also reported to be involved in a Mass Effect series too. The discovery does come to be a surprise after a Sony spokesperson denounced rumors for a God of War series before.
In terms of the hands in the pot, Deadline reveals that The Expanse executive producers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby are to be involved. Additionally, Rafe Judkins, showrunner for The Wheel of Time is also part of the discussion. Of course, Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions also has its name in the project too.
Looking ahead, Uncharted starring Tom Holland is already shaping up for a series of films with its success in the box office. Obtaining more than $100 million in its opening weekend globally, Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman explained it is “a new hit movie franchise.” You can read the full report by heading here.
