Taken from the Halo Infinite gameplay demo that was presented last week – which we later learned to be a sample of the game hours into the plot – the showcase only centered on the title’s story campaign. When questions following the footage lingering around regarding the multiplayer aspect of the Xbox Series X launch title, 343 Industries head Chris Lee told that online will be shown off in the “coming months.”

However, there has been a slight runoff of new details regarding online matchmaking for Halo Infinite that was disclosed since last Thursday’s show. In that, the developer this Friday announced that multiplayer for the approaching title will be free-to-play. Even more, those who plan on playing the online for Halo Infinite on Xbox Series X can expect the game to perform at 120 frames per second, the studio tells.

And while the spout has been closed since then as of now, more details look to be surfacing elsewhere surrounding the first-person shooter. On Reddit, poster JJAB91 shared an image of the Halo Infinite listing in Japan which categorizes the base game as battle royale.

As of writing, there is no concrete confirmation that the listing is accurate. More on the matters of battle roayle, many fans are mixed between the game mode’s inauguration for Halo as a series. While some welcome the idea to see it potentially perform alike Call of Duty has done already, others believe the addition could jeopardize the game’s meta and put emphasis on the mode rather than the core gameplay.

However, Halo does hold a solid foundation to fuel a landscape for 100-player lobbies – especially with recent talks of the scale for Installation 7. With an arsenal of weapons and vehicles for players to loot, the game could operate in alignment with the battle royale game type.

While nothing is set in stone yet, this could potentially develop into something greater reaching closer to the game’s arrival. In other Halo multiplayer-centered news, the Microsoft Store disclosed that Halo Infinite will feature cross-play between console generations and PC. You can read the full report by heading here.

Do you think battle royale would be a smart idea for Halo Infinite?

Halo Infinite is set to arrive sometime in holiday 2020 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
