Come this Friday, Striking Distance’s The Callisto Protocol will hit store shelves. The game comes as a byproduct of vacancy for a new space-set survival horror title. Previously, Dead Space creator Glen Schofield worked as a co-founder for Call of Duty developer Sledgehammer Games. But it was in 2018 that him alongside Michael Condrey would step down from the positions for new opportunity in the industry.

It was by summer 2019 that Striking Distance was formed under PUBG Battlegrounds publisher Krafton. December next year at The Game Awards is where The Callisto Protocol was officially announced. And whilst awaiting for the response to the new IP, Schofield recently told Inverse he is interested in creating a sequel given the opportunity.

Elsewhere discovered on the official Steam page for The Callisto Protocol, the Season Pass for the game has been unveiled. As you can guess with cosmetic & story DLC slated for the post-launch bundle, it also harbors additional death animations as well. You can read the full list below:

Outer Way Skin Collection: Bear the armor of the Outer Way, an underground insurgency pitted against the UJC, as you fight to survive the horrors of Callisto.

Contagion Bundle: Discover the ultimate survival horror experience with a new mode, Contagion. With reduced ammo and health drops, a customized difficulty and permadeath – there are no second chances to escape Black Iron Prison or the horrors lurking beneath the surface of Callisto. The Contagion Bundle also includes thirteen new Jacob death animations and the Watchtower Skin Collection.

Riot Bundle: Venture into a previously undiscovered area of Black Iron Prison and battle through waves of brutal enemies. Gather credits to upgrade your weapons, or forge new ones, and survive the onslaught as long as you can in Riot, an all-new mode. The Riot Bundle also includes twelve new enemy death animations and the Engineer Skin Collection.

Story DLC: Dig deeper into the horrifying secrets of The Callisto Protocol.

Following the finding, Schofield went to Twitter to dismantle building criticisms to the decision to sell extra death animations that were not included in the full package. “To be clear: We’re not holding anything back from the main game for the season pass. We haven’t even started work on this content yet. It’s all new stuff that we’ll be working on in the new year. Fans have asked for EVEN MORE deaths, so we’re making it a priority next year.”

As for other plans for The Callisto Protocol being made, the decision for tie this story to the greater PUBG Battlegrounds IP was severed previously. It was originally said to be an intertwined experience to the battle royale, but Schofield revealed it was not a cohesive decision and walled the effort altogether.
