Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon Launches Today

While developer Yacht Club Games has laid out a foundation for itself with the beloved Shovel Knight franchise for more than half a decade, the developer is taking itself to new heights in the last couple of years. For one, the team has shared it is now expanding to publishing. For one, the release of Cybershadow illustrates that passion to feature NES-era release from other creative minds like the one exhibited from Mechanical Head Studios.

However, things appeared to be heading in an even greater realm for the industry when it was speculated that the team is delving into mobile releases as well. In another published project from game studio Vine, Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon was announced. But, it was later discovered that not to be the case although the gameplay featured showcases gameplay suitable for the peripheral.

Previously, Yacht Club Games in a new trailer for Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon revealed that the game is still planned to launch sometime this year. If we’re talking from a business standpoint, “winter 2021” could stretch until the end of Q4 which leads all the way to March next year. But in a new announcement, the launch date was slated for this Monday.

“We’re ecstatic to announce that Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon will launch on December 13th! A lot of hard work, joy, tears, dancing, and love went into this game’s 3 year development…it truly was a passion project to bring a new type of puzzle game to the world, and we can’t wait for you to all experience its every moment,” the team shares. “Hopefully, you have as much fun playing as we had in the development.

“We’ll continue to post more info about our puzzle action-adventure as launch approaches so make sure to check back frequently! We have one more fun thing to reveal today! We loved developing and playing this game so much, we just can’t get enough, and we don’t think you’ll be able to either! That’s why we’re planning on releasing an expansive slate of downloadable content (3 DLC packs!) over the next year or so.”
