Sly Cooper Television Series Reportedly Underway For An Announcement Fairly “Soon”

Although Sony continues to pave the way for the next-generation of consoles with the PlayStation 5 and its respected first-party lineup of titles, Sony is also treading into the waters of entertainment aside from video games. In that, the firm announced the founding of PlayStation Pictures which would be the division responsible for coming films and television series dedicated to the repertoire of properties that have shipped for the PlayStation platform.

Since the conception of the new firm under Sony, there are two productions currently underway that have been made public: the Twisted Metal television series and the approaching Uncharted film starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg. However, another project shows to be on its way for an announcement fairly soon according to a recent statement.

According to Arab entertainment publication Screen Mix, the reveal for a Sly Cooper show is close to being revealed the outlet shared in a recent post on Twitter.

“A new piece of the popular Sly Cooper series may soon be announced! One of the funniest sneak and theft games,” the tweet reads when crunched through an automatic, online translator.

As of late, the current position for Sly Cooper does not look to be holding much ground. With fans hoping that a new installment would be underway for the game series, that grasp for hope looks to be gone as it was reported that developer Sanzaru Games was acquired by Facebook-owned Oculus back in February. The team’s latest work was Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, but no other projects came to fruition since.

As for the television series, it was reported back in 2017 that the show would be handled by PGS entertainment with Technicolor Animation Productions & Sony helming the production for the show. So perhaps the new television series will be ready for a full blown reveal seeing roughly three years has passed since its original announcement.

In other Sony Interactive Entertainment properties receiving televised adaptations, it was reported earlier this month that The Last of Us series being handled by HBO would recruit Chernobyl Director Johan Renck to direct the pilot for the coming show. You can read the full report by heading here.
