One of Warner Bros. Games’ most anticipated titles is still underway. Since the announcement in summer 2020 from Rocksteady Studios, the team is slowly inching closer to ten years since its last major release – Batman Arkham Knight. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was originally announced for a 2022 release window at the time. It wasn’t until then the game got pushed to 2023 a year after it was promised.
However, more scrutiny came for the title as new information surfaced. In that, a leak online revealed the GaaS model that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is following. In a response, Rocksteady Studios shared that this and the battle passes for post-launch is solely for cosmetic items. Additionally, the team also confirmed that 100 percent of the game requires an online connection – even playing the game by yourself as well.
Now to add another blow to this fight against the game studio, Rocksteady Studios now shares that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set to release next year in 2024. This was previously reported by Bloomberg Tech’s Jason Schreier earlier on this winter.
“We have made the tough but necessary decision to take the time needed to work on getting the game to be the best quality experience for players. Thank you to our amazing community for the continued support, patience and understanding. There is much more to share in the months ahead and we look forward to seeing you in Metropolis next year,” the team writes in the letterhead.
Although the game will be another year away, there is still content underway for impatient fans. Later this summer, a prequel comic – Suicide Squad: Kill Akrham Asylum – is set to release in a five-issue story prior to the events of the new Rocksteady Studios game.
