Although the wait since the release of Batman Arkham Knight to the announcement for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was dreadful, the patience for the new game’s release is not flattering either. Originally unveiled back in summer 2020, fans were hoping the game would have arrived as promised. It was not until March 2022 a delay for the following year was made.

By December at The Game Awards this past holiday, Rocksteady Studios officially shared Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will ship in May this coming spring. In the time between then to now, new information has surfaced for the game. In that, a leak of the game’s menu shares its GaaS approach which leaves many players unhappy to say the least. But, the developer did specify in a response there is only cosmetic rewards with no lootboxes or pay-to-win.

This week, Rocksteady Studios & DC Comics revealed a prequel comic dubbed ‘Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum’ is to release after the launch of the game. The mini-series is said to release with five issues and each to offer an exclusive code to redeem in-game for a specialized cosmetic item as well.

“Before the Suicide Squad takes on the World’s Greatest Super Heroes in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, find out how this Task Force X roster came together in Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum, the official prequel limited series to the highly anticipated video game from Warner Bros. Games, Rocksteady Studios, and DC,” the description reads.

“In this five-issue limited series, Amanda Waller has taken control of the recently rebuilt Arkham Asylum, and her brutal tactics and merciless methods have led to the most secure facility Gotham City has ever seen. But remember that this is Amanda Waller, and she’s always got an angle. Arkham is part of her latest ‘recruitment drive,’ and she’s looking for the strongest, smartest, and most brutal inmates in the asylum to serve her as new members of Task Force X.”

This is not the first time the Arkham-verse has been adapted to the pages of DC Comics. As part of the Batman Detective Comic #1000, the titular Arkham Knight was properly introduced as another moniker for Jason Todd alongside his previous outfit as the Red Hood.
