In an ongoing campaign understanding when CrossfireX is launching, it perhaps might finally agree on a release date. Originally, the game was revealed back during E3 2019. The significance of the project was shared to be split between original Crossfire team Smilegate working on the multiplayer as Remedy Entertainment conjures a single-player experience for the new release.
Since then, the title has welcomed a beta for the game in summer 2020, but has shifted its aim for the game quite a bit. With COVID-19 still a concern, the rise of the pandemic resulted in the overall production shifting its launch to 2021. However, despite minimal updates on the status of the release date, it was later pressed the project is still in preparation for a release this year, Smilegate shared.
Now as of this week from The Game Awards, the collaborative project is now scheduled for an official release coming this February in 2022. You can watch the release date trailer in the video below:
“Drop in and join a squad of Global Risk or Black List mercenaries across a variety of classic and innovative multiplayer modes accessible to players of all skill levels and interests,” the official CrossfireX page reads for the game. Adding, “A sprawling global conflict rages between the Global Risk and Black List mercenary factions in an immersive and cinematic single player experience that introduces players to the world of Crossfire through a series of action-packed stories told from both sides of the conflict.”
Whilst still having Remedy Entertainment front and center in this piece, it is not the only announcement involving the Finnish game studio. Earlier on during the Thursday show revealed that the developer is also working on delivering Alan Wake II later on in 2023. You can read the full report by heading here.
