While Spike TV has been shuttered for years now and he moved on from GameTrailers, Geoff Keighley remains one of the most prolific voices in the video game industry. And that is in due part to his role for The Game Awards. Last year, the show received new milestones in viewership and activity online for casted votes. But, 2022 was no different from his involvement.

In that, Summer Game Fest remained a bullet point for anticipated shows this year as the event also broke its previous records as well welcoming 27 million viewers with peak global views adding up to 3.5 million cumulatively. Atop of that, Keighley recently hosted the in-person return of Gamescom Opening Night Live.

All that remains is the return of this year’s awards show in December. Keighley did not wait long to announce that with The Game Awards officially returning on December 8th later this year.

Reflecting on some of the major announcements from last year includes the unveiling for Alan Wake II. Nearly ten years later, the long-awaited sequel is paved for 2023. Not to mention the gameplay preview for Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga as well. The game’s reveal was also at The Game Awards and hope builds upon the release date being there at a future show as well.

As for this show in December, Keighley is doing something different for it. In that, the show will be aired at select IMAX theaters. Keighley announced the news back in May as the same was planned for Summer Game Fest. You can read the original report by heading here.

Are you excited for The Game Awards later this winter?

The Game Awards airs on December 8, 2022.
