Electronic Arts held its quarterly earnings call this week revealing more information on Battlefield and some of its future plans. EA’s CEO, Andrew Wilson, indicated that the next Battlefield game will be released before April 2026. They will also monitor the competition to avoid competing with major titles like GTA 6.
Andrew Wilson also talked about the Nintendo Switch 2 and some of its popular EA Sports franchises. The CEO believes the FC and Madden series will find real energy on the Switch 2.
“Certainly, our expectation is that products like FC and Madden and others might find real energy on the platform (Switch 2), as they have done in the past.”
It wouldn’t be a huge shock to see Electronic Arts support Nintendo’s newest console in the near future. We have seen some FIFA titles release on the Switch in its early days but most recently it has lacked sports games. What would be more surprising is to see the Madden franchise or even the NHL series make its way to the Switch 2.
In other news, Nintendo announced the official Switch 2 Direct will take place at 9 AM ET on April 2, 2025.
Andrew Wilson also said a major overhaul for Apex Legends, “Apex 2.0” is coming after the new Battlefield is released.
