So far, PlayStation Productions’ efforts for its video game adaptations have proven to be a success for Sony Pictures. With The Last of Us being a major hit on HBO Max & Uncharted expected to be a new film franchise, the firm is underway with more projects. Recently, it was told by head Asad Qizilbash that the same attention is to be applied to the upcoming Gran Turismo, Horizon Zero Dawn, God of War features as well.
However, there is another TV project in the works that went unmentioned – Twisted Metal. In fact, this was the first project announced since the founding of PlayStation Productions. Most recently regarding the Peacock show, it was said that Neve Campbell, Will Arnett, and Thomas Haden Church were to star in the television series.
Now this past week, Peacock & Sony Pictures Television has released the first trailer for the upcoming Twisted Metal TV series as it is said to air this July. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“Twisted Metal, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and written by Michael Jonathan Smith, about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland,” the description from the trailer reads
“With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.” Previously, there were claims disclosing efforts internally at PlayStation to create a new Twisted Metal tie-in title, but little has been said since the original reports.
