Among the different pedigree of battle royale games out there, it appears there are some that still manage to outweigh the competition. As for the likes of Ubisoft, the firm is still attempting to tackle the genre. So far, the firm has shipped futuristic-set Hyper Scape more than a year ago alongside console support being added just this past summer as well.

Additionally, the publisher is curating a separate battle royale with a familiar IP, Ghost Recon. Announcing Ghost Recon Frontline shaped to deliver the most definitive experience with the heavy associated Ghost Recon DNA sewed into the gameplay’s fabric. However, the response to the reveal left Ubisoft to pull closed testing and put the game back in the oven until appropriately finished to return for another playtest.

On Thursday, Ubisoft announced that the future for Hyper Scape is coming to an abrupt close with the game now officially shutting down later this spring.

We have made the difficult decision to end development of Hyper Scape and shut the game down as of April 28th. We set out to create a vertical, close-quarters, and fast-paced shooter experience and we are extremely grateful to our community for joining us on our journey. We will be taking key learnings from this game into future products.

The team in the post adds, “To the Hyper Scape community, thank you for your passion and dedication to the world of Neo Arcadia both inside and outside of the game. Your devotion to the game we built will always be cherished.” The developer asks fans to reach out for further clarification needed, but there is no additional details as of reporting.

The news comes at an upsetting surprise; from our Accessibility Review for Hyper Scape, critic Shay wrote the game “is taking some steps in the right direction in accessibility. Hopefully more games will put these features in, as well as others, so we can all game together.” You can read the full piece by heading here.
