Upon viewing the roadmap for the October-released Watch Dogs: Legion, developer Ubisoft Toronto had certain plans for the game: online. Although the firm also mapped out its post-launch schedule for Watch Dogs: Legion to include new content and story expansions for the game as well, the multiplayer component is its first priority. In that, Watch Dogs: Legion is the first game in the series to miss the feature at launch.
So in March, Ubisoft Toronto planned to release the online update for Watch Dogs: Legion. But, the developer appeared to run into some obstacles when making that a reality. In that, the firm ultimately decided to push the update for both console and PC versions as it arrive later on. And now with multiplayer enabled altogether, the game studio can continue its planned work, right?
Well, Ubisoft Toronto unveiled a new playtest for a new zombie game mode, Watch Dogs: Legion of the Dead.
Watch Dogs: Legion of the Dead can be accessed via Ubisoft Connect and is a separate game mode from Watch Dogs: Legion. In a London filled with zombies, Albion soldiers and Clan Kelley enforcers are hoarding valuable supplies that you must get your hands on to ensure the survival of your crew.
No matter if you are going in solo, with friends or up to 3 other players via public matchmaking, you will have to be smart with your resources, your tactics and plan ahead to gather supplies, find power-ups and extract from London alive. Every supply run starts off with a random Survivor and Gadget. Scout the map for precious supplies, power-ups and plan a route to avoid the deadly zombie hordes.
Noted, the alpha mentioned in currently unique to PC, Ubisoft explains. “We want Watch Dogs: Legion of the Dead to be developed together with our players, meaning we want to iterate on it often and patch it frequently. To make this possible we need to be able to deploy patches fast and we have full control over this on PC via Ubisoft Connect. As we move towards the Beta phase, we look forward to getting reinforcements from players on console, Stadia and Luna.”
In other related news to Watch Dogs: Legion, Ubisoft briefly mentioned an 60 frames per second mode is planned for the game on console. Of course, the update is oriented for Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5, but there is no planned date as of yet for the new client. You can read the full report by heading here.
