From the likes of Valve, the firm is most notable for its presence on PC with one of the world’s most recognized storefronts, Steam. Additionally, its lineup of platform-unique titles such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, DOTA 2, and the recent Half-Life: Alyx, the firm remains a hallmark for PC. But, the company has pursued console in the past with its Orange Box bundle for Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3.

In the past, founder Gabe Newell explained a new ambition on behalf of Valve to deliver more games to console later on. So far we witnessed the likes of Portal: Companion Collection which is coming to Nintendo Switch later this year. But, the firm is also expanding its own Steam to portable means with the Steam Deck which shipped earlier in February this month.

Additionally, the firm recently has announced a new game is on the way for this week. For Steam Deck and/or Steam users, Aperture Desk Job is returning to the Portal universe and it will be absolutely free. You can watch the announcement trailer in the video below:

“Aperture Desk Job reimagines the been-there-done-that genre of walking simulators and puts them in the lightning-spanked, endorphin-gorged world of sitting still behind things,” Valve explains in the description on the game’s Steam page. “You play as an entry-level nobody on their first day at work — your heart full of hope and your legs full of dreams, eager to climb that corporate ladder. But life’s got other plans, and they all involve chairs.

“Designed as a free playable short for Valve’s new Steam Deck, Desk Job walks you through the handheld’s controls and features, while not being nearly as boring as that sounds.” Noted, Calve does not beat around the bush with many potentially hoping this new experience will be the long-awaited sequel to Portal 2. “Not Portal 3!”, reads the subtitle.

“Lower your expectations: This is not a sequel to Portal. Now get ready to raise them slightly, because it is in the expanded universe of those games. Desk Job puts you squarely in the driver’s seat at Aperture Science. Then quickly removes the driving part and adds a desk in front of the seat.”

Last week, there was a new update on expanding where you can play your Steam library for the coming future. From Elon Musk on Twitter, he explained that Tesla is investigating ways to integrate your Steam games for Tesla firmware. You can read the full report by heading here.
