Of course, publisher Electronic Arts prepares itself for another fall as its annual sports titles release in the approaching weeks. With Madden NFL 22 already out comes followed by FIFA 22 at the start of October and trailed with NHL 22 after that. However, the soccer simulator has some competition this year in terms of new releases.

More than a year ago, developer PES Productions shared it will be dodging its annual releases for Pro Evolution Soccer coming 2020. Instead, it will be creating a new experience oriented for the upcoming Xbox & PlayStation at the time. Recently, Konami unveiled eFootball, the answer to revitalize Pro Evolution Soccer by creating a new, free-to-play experience.

On Thursday, Konami shared that eFootball is set to launch at the end of September right ahead of the competition at the start of October.

With “eFootball” being the name of our overall platform, “eFootball 2022” is the official title for our first season of content. Platform updates bringing new functionality, such as cross-platform matchmaking and controller support, will happen frequently over the coming months and will always be free. Future content updates and game modes will be offered to players as either free or premium options. We look forward to getting players on the pitch and receiving their feedback.

Konami continues by pressing what launches with the game including offline matches and multiplayer comprised of cross-generation matches (PlayStation 5 vs. PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S vs. Xbox One). Additionally, more content is expected to be added to the game as time progresses for eFootball which the firm promises to be delivered.

In addition to eFootball becoming an all-in-one experience across console, PC, and mobile now, the publisher also tells that those already with the eFootball PES 2021 application will find the pre-existing client to be updated to eFootball 2022 come launch at the end of the month.

What are you most excited about eFootball?

eFootball arrives sometime in autumn 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
