GameCube Virtual Console Comes To Nintendo Switch Online In New Exclusive Library For Switch 2 This June

The chatter surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 has yet to cease with the respective Direct presentation being held this week. In late March, the Japanese company announced a new feature shared with the new console & its predecessor: Virtual Game Cards. This enables users to share its titles with users alike with a physical copy for a select time.

Other details have surfaced online since then too. One report indicated a June launch is underway for the Nintendo Switch 2. Another claim disclosed pricing to at least be $400 for its launch this summer. And, Best Buy even leaked that pre-orders are to be available in early April as well for the Nintendo Switch 2.

During the livestream, Nintendo revealed that the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service will be welcoming a new tier for the subscription. Exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 welcomes that GameCube Virtual Library. You can read the list of confirmed games thus far below:

“The Nintendo Switch Online library of classic games—now renamed as Nintendo Classics**—is expanding to include a collection of titles from Nintendo GameCube™!” the press release reads. “Some games include fun in-game options, like a retro screen filter and widescreen gameplay.” In the trailer, Nintendo does elaborate that some games will feature online connectivity as well.

“Enjoy clearer image quality, with higher screen resolution than the original GameCube releases. Up to 4 players can play together in supported titles, either locally or online with friends,” the YouTube trailer description added. Currently, there is no roadmap on which classic GameCube titles will be coming to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack beyond what is already shared.
