God Of War: Ragnarok Could Be Missing Its 2021 Release Insider Suggests

In the rush leading up to the release of the PlayStation 5, Sony Interactive Entertainment began laying out the seed to sow which would later become the first-party lineup for the newest console platform. Among the launch titles like Sackboy: A Big Adventure and Demon’s Souls, the firm also pressed that there will be follow-ups as well for established franchises. Titles like Horizon Forbidden West for example.

While little is shared about the sequel, Horizon Forbidden West is propped up to be a tent pole entry on the PlayStation 5. More in detail on its status, one trailer from Sony Interactive Entertainment suggests that the game is to be arriving sometime later on in late 2021. Additionally, the game was also clarified to be a cross-generation release with PlayStation 4 also expecting the game.

However, God of War: Ragnarok is also projected to arrive this year as well. But, it appears that the game might not make the deadline. In a report from Wired verifying Horizon Forbidden West launching this year by @Nibellion, Bloomberg Tech’s Jason Schreier remarks that God of War is not on the same path.

Previously, there have been concerns as to the release of God of War: Ragnarok already. In that, Sony Interactive Entertainment President & CEO Jim Ryan when inquired on the platform that the game will specifically release on, he would not answer. It is speculated he could perhaps be hiding a cross-generation launch for the game – alike Horizon Forbidden West: Rectify Gaming entertains the latter possibility to being unique to PlayStation 5.

But even if there is no release for God of War: Ragnarok in 2021, the series is certainly not absent from PlayStation 5. In a recent update to God of War (2018), developer Santa Monica Studio issued a client which revamped the game for the PlayStation 5. You can read the full report by heading here.
