For certain franchises, players have waited years if not decades for a new installment of a select series. Over at Konami, the Japanese publisher has become notorious for neglecting some of its IP which many consider to be a gold mine. In fall 2022, the firm finally revealed nearly a handful of Silent Hill projects: Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill Townfall, Silent Hill Ascension, and Silent Hill f. All are current in active development.
As for the remaining Metal Gear Solid franchise, that is still undetermined. In the past, continuous claims were made in regards to its future. One rumor told development was being licensed out to third-party teams. A following statement indicated the project to be Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater with Virtuous Games. Another claim told to confirm the project to be genuine for the 2004 remake.
Now recently, Metal Gear Solid voice actor Quinton Flinn ignites hope for long-awaited fans on Twitter. In one exchange, he shares some form of an announcement will be made in the approaching weeks.
Flinn is most noted for his performance of Raiden in multiple Metal Gear releases in the past. But what makes the statement even more eye-opening is a previous remark made by one Konami developer in December. Gathered by Gematsu, Metal Gear Solid producer Noriaki Okamura shared that a “long awaited” project is already in the pipeline at Konami Digital Entertainment.
What brings even more interest is not only the Metal Gear Solid 3 leaks, but also another finding prior. In that, trademarks were filed for both Metal Gear Rising & Castlevania in 2021. And with the Raiden voice actor now speaking out, there is tension in the air as to what exactly Konami has planned to reveal. You can read the full report by heading here.
