The ongoing lineage of games for Marvel properties continues. It was just this month that Marvel & Disney unveiled Marvel World of Heroes. In collaboration with Niantic, behind the Pokémon Go phenomenon, the game brings the most iconic comic characters to your phone through augmented reality experiences. Additionally, Firaxis Games’ Marvel’s Midnight Suns gets an official release date for this fall.

Elsewhere, we learn more about Skydance New Media’s involvement. In a previous statement, studio overseer Amy Hennig shared the team is collaborating with Marvel to create a new project with the property. It was this month the firm teased a cinematic trailer for a Marvel Ensemble Adventure game featuring Black Panther & Captain America.

This Tuesday, Marvel, Electronic Arts, and EA Motive announce a new collaboration to bring an Iron Man game to fruition.

It’s an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to make a video game based on one of the most iconic Super Heroes in entertainment today. We have a great opportunity to create a new and unique story that we can call our own. Marvel is encouraging us to create something fresh. We have a lot of freedom, which is so engaging for the team.

Oliver Proulx, EA Motive Executive Producer

“We are thrilled to collaborate with the talented team at Motive Studio to bring their original vision of one of Marvel’s most important, powerful and beloved characters,” Marvel Games Vice President and Creative Director Bill Rosemann said. “Their experience delivering both established entertainment worlds and thrilling gameplay — combined with their authentic passion for the armored icon — will fuel our quest to deliver a love letter to a legendary hero in the form of the ultimate Iron Man video game.”

This follows the previous PlayStation VR exclusive Marvel’s Iron-Man VR which was developed by Camofauj. The new project is said to still be in early pre-production and does not reference the direction the game is heading. Under certainty, it will follow the structure of an AAA project which does not bridge with the previous virtual reality title.
