Like in a well-known story, Electronic Arts’ relationship with licenses is foretold to be an ongoing ambition for the publisher. Whilst the firm holds its own unique properties, it has been noted for licensed work in the past like Harry Potter and the most recent string of Star Wars titles. And now with Lucasfilm Games established, it did pledge to work with Electronic Arts moving forward alongside other parties as well.

Reflecting back to January 2022, Electronic Arts & Lucasfilm Games unveiled a new three-game plan with Respawn Entertainment in the center. This includes a sequel for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, a first-person shooter experience, and a real-time strategy project – all with the Apex Legends team in the center. Not to mention the recent arrangement with Marvel for a new Iron Man project, the firm has more in line moving forward.

In a recent press release, it is revealed that both Electronic Arts & Marvel has established a new long-time partnership to roll out a minimum of three titles; one including the project involving EA Motive already.

We have been long-time fans of Marvel and their impressive leadership, so this is a remarkable moment for our developers as well as our players and fans. We look forward to welcoming Marvel into the EA family of creators and know this collaboration will produce exceptional experiences for our players. We can’t wait to see players’ reactions when they suit up as Iron Man and do the extraordinary things this Super Hero is known for.

Laura Meile, Electronic Arts Chief of Operating Officer

“At Marvel, we strive to find best-in-class teams who can take our characters on heroic journeys in ways they haven’t before and collaborating with Electronic Arts will help us achieve that,” said Marvel Games Executive Vice President, Jay Ong. “We pride ourselves on being enthusiastic, creative collaborators with developers so they have the freedom to create something deeply unique and truly remarkable.

“The team at Motive is getting started on that with their Iron Man video game and we can’t wait for players to learn more in the far future.” In terms of the direction this partnership will lead does not add context to other titles outside of Iron Man. It is suspected an Avengers-like title is out of question with Skydance New Media working on one already. You can read the full report by heading here.
