Overlooking towards developer Naughty Dog, the PlayStation Studios team remains silent on its next major project. While we do understand the team has already restructured for its upcoming blockbuster, single-player title, the team is also multitasking. In that, the developer revealed previously that a multiplayer portion for The Last of Us Part II is on the way as well.
Not to mention the recent success of the HBO television series for The Last of Us, Naughty Dog has proven to have a full plate for itself. Although details are up in the air for what Naughty Dog is occupied with primarily, many argue if it’s Uncharted or not. Despite the continued success of the series, lead Neil Druckmann explained the conclusion for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End satisfied the team.
Amid the wait for the upcoming The Last of Us multiplayer spin-off, Naughty Dog confirms the wait will be longer until more is release on the project and also the game shipping on store shelves. You can view the statement in the tweet below:
“We know many of you have been looking forward to hearing more about our The Last of Us multiplayer game. We’re incredibly proud of the job our studio has done thus far, but as development has continued, we’ve realized what is best for the game is to give it more time,” the letterhead reads. “Our team will continue to work on the project, as well as our other games in development, including a brand new single-player experience; we look forward to sharing more soon.”
The statement does come at a surprise for many. However, after the game’s absence at the recent PlayStation Showcase, it does make sense since the title was anticipated to make an appearance. Instead, live-service PlayStation titles such as Fairgame$, Marathon, and Condor were revealed.
What are your thoughts on the update from Naughty Dog?
