Naughty Dog Celebrates The Last Of Us With First Image For The Upcoming HBO Series

From developer Naughty Dog – the team most noted for releases like Jak & Daxter and Uncharted in 2013 to expand its recognition with The Last of Us series. More recently is in early 2021, it was discovered that the follow-up The Last of Us Part II is now the most received in awards of any release. The 2020 game overtakes the record previously held by CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Moving forward, it appears that Naughty Dog is refocusing its efforts for what will be the next major project at the PlayStation Studios team. However, reports surfaced previously on another project underway. In that, Bloomberg tells that Naughty Dog is now helming a title from the now-closed Sony Interactive Entertainment Visual Arts Service Group, The Last of Us Remake.

Atop of that, eyes continue to return back to the previously announced HBO television series underway. Most noted, sequel director Neil Druckmann told that the production is to expand on the original game, but will brush upon new scenarios that were not in the original game. This weekend, Naughty Dog celebrated The Last of Us with the first image from the TV show which you can view below:

For casting of The Last of Us, it was already revealed that Pedro Pascal (The Madalorian) is to portray Joel and Bella Remsey (Game of Thrones) for Ellie. Gabriel Luna (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) is to play Tommy, and Merle Dandrigde is to reprise her role for Marlene which also inspire the likeness for the character in the game as well.

Earlier on, it was reported that the directors for the series were officially decided. In that, Jasmila Žbanić alongside Ali Abbasi are to oversee the production as they co-direct the HBO show. Most recently it was told that the first season for The Last of Us is to run for a total of ten episodes. You can read the full report by heading here.
