Payday 3 Confirmed For 2023 Release With New Logo Reveal

For the Payday franchise, many of those who still remain are awaiting the next mainline installment. Rewinding back to 2016, developer Starbreeze Studios announced the third installment. The announcement came after the $30 million acquisition for the rights by the team from 505 Games. However, the game has yet to see the light of day in over half a decade. In a 2019 financial report, it was revealed the game was slated for a 2022 release window.

Amid the continued wait, Starbreeze Studios faced structural reworking as a company, howbeit, the state of development for Payday 3 was guaranteed to be advancing well. As part of a new publishing deal with Koch Media (now Plaion), it also revealed a new 2023 release window is scheduled for the new title. Under the new publisher, Prime Matter was handed Payday 3 to oversee the project with Starbreeze Studios at the helm.

To celebrate the transition of 2023, Starbreeze Studios took the stage to announce 2023 will be “the year of Payday 3”. “Starbreeze Studios celebrates the New Year by sharing an update about the much anticipated PAYDAY 3, reaffirming a global 2023 release on PC and consoles. While a specific release date is yet to be announced, the reveal includes the never-before-seen PAYDAY 3 logo reveal. The PAYDAY 3 store page on Steam is live and users may now wishlist the title and join the community hub,” the blog post reads.

“Step out of retirement back into the life of crime in the shoes of the Payday Gang, the envy of their peers and the nightmare of law-enforcement wherever they go. Several years after the crew’s reign of terror over Washington DC has ended, they assemble once again to deal with the threat that roused them out of early retirement,” the overview from the Steam page for Payday 3 reads.

While under the same parent company that Plaion shares, Embracer Group’s Deep Silver is in the same boat for its upcoming Dead Island 2. The long-awaited project was originally announced in 2015 and has tossed around developers nearly a handful of times before Dambuster Studios took on the task.
