So far for 2023, Microsoft has showed to mean business with its first-party lineup. At the Developer_Direct in early January, the Xbox firm featured anticipated releases such as Minecraft Legends, Forza Motorsport, The Elder Scrolls Online, and Redfall alongside Hi-Fi Rush – a new zenith for the platform. Of course, there will be more presentations coming this way as well
Actually, the firm is hosting a partnered presentation with Paradox Interactive next week to showcase new announcements from the Swedish publisher. Back in January, Microsoft did announce a new showcase for June will be taking place. Not to mention a separate Starfield presentation as well. IGN went on to give confirmation that the summer showcase will not be attached to E3 this coming June.
And amid the wait, Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer gives some clarity on what’s to come. Although many of Xbox’s focus is for its June presentation, he does elaborate there will be some “Goldeneye-type” announcements to be made beforehand. You can watch the segment of the interview in the video below:
“There are some things that will come up- we’re mostly focused on June and kinda getting […] so a lot of our focus is on the showcase in June,” Spencer explains. “But there’s some news that’s coming out and things- like y’know, we did the Goldeneye [reveal], y’know Goldeneye-type announcements- so there will be things, games available in different services – obviously the Game Pass portfolio continues to grow, but most of our focus as a team is really getting ready for [the] showcase.
“We got Redfall coming, we go Minecraft Legends coming, we go Starfield coming, we got Forza [Motorsport] coming, so I love that the portfolio is here and people are starting to play; starting off the year with Hi-Fi [Rush] was so fantastic.” So far, a date has not been mentioned for the June showcase, and the same can be said for suspicions on Microsoft’s planned reveals ahead of the event then.
What do you think Microsoft could reveal ahead of June for Xbox?
