It has now been two weeks ago since the official first look at the PlayStation 5. Even more, fans for the coming next-generation console also witnessed the unexpected reveal of the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition: a discless unit that is suspected to rely solely on digital purchases with a lighter price tag. However, it was unearthed more than a year ago to be a similar console for Microsoft’s line of hardware for the next-generation.

Back in December of 2018, it was rumored that Microsoft would be offering two different SKUs to launch the next line of console hardware in the coming future – Project Anaconda and Project Lockhart. While the first eventually being dubbed the Xbox Series X this past December as the initial report disclosed a more powerful unit, the latter stream-focused system still has yet to be revealed.

Even more, there is still lingering rumors which disclose the second console to being named the Xbox Series S. In that, Windows Central reports the unannounced unit would offer 4 teraflops and hold as a successor to the Xbox One S which is already available. But outside of the reports, users online speculate the alternate console will eliminate the disc drive altogether to separate itself from its more powerful sibling system.

Now in a new report on Twitter, user @XB1_HixDecimal posted some private Microsoft documents which share the Lockhart name associated with the Xbox Series S.

In the post, the Twitter user goes on to mention that the images provided are from the PDF release notes for the Game Developers Kit for this month’s release.

Elsewhere in a report from The Verge, the outlet discloses from sources familiar with Project Lockhart to learn that the build for the unannounced hardware is a part of the Xbox Series X developer kit. The kit titled ‘Dante’ is said to operate with 7.5GB of RAM and 4 teraflops of GPU power – corroborating with the previous report from Windows Central.

The CPU speed of the system is said to be “slightly underclocked with the hardware aiming for less GPU power. With that, the system is told to be aiming for 1440p or 1080p resolution when in action. Performance on the console mentioned was not provided in the report.

As for the expected announcement of the Xbox Series S itself, that wait could be on its last few breathes. According to a previously accurate rumor, it was disclosed that Project Lockhart would be unveiled in a coming Xbox event. Insider @XcloudTimdog on Twitter shared that Microsoft would host an event in May and June, so it is anticipated a coming Xbox 20/20 showcaase would reveal the new system if that’s the case.

What do you think about Project Lockhart?

Xbox Series X is set to launch in holiday 2020.
