Extracted from our 9/10 review for Remedy Entertainment’s Control, critic David Rodriguez wrote, “Control is a fantastic experience. One part Shadow Complex, one part Remedy’s special sauce and all of it weird. It feels like the creation of a Remedy Gaming Universe, as Control has elements of Remedy’s lineage in every aspect of it’s DNA while embracing new design to create something unique.”

To later understand that the same developer plans to expand on the intertwined universe of the IP only grew more excitement. Previously, the Finnish game studio went on to clarify that the next game following Control is to bridge the series as the ‘Remedy Connected Universe’ already includes the latest game and Alan Wake already. Even more, a recent job listing also hinted at a new Control game is on the way for the making of a “Control franchise”.

From Remedy Entertainment on Tuesday, the developer reveals that the series is branching its arms into the PvE multiplayer spectrum now. While little is shared on the new IP, the team does reveal ‘Project Condor’ will be set in the Control universe and will include an experience up to four players.

Remedy Entertainment and 505 Games announced that we have signed a new game, codenamed Condor, which is a spin-off set to expand the world we kicked off with Control. […] We get that there is going to be skepticism about multiplayer. But I believe we can create shared experiences without compromising the unique DNA of who we are, or the stories we want to tell.

Yes, we need to re-think our angles, our techniques, our mindset, but we see it as an exciting challenge: What would a Remedy multiplayer game look like? The Vanguard team has done awesome progress on that front already, and the possibilities there are extremely exciting. Both games will be different examples of how you can collectively experience our worlds.

But, Remedy Entertainment in a separate press release indicates that the Control IP is still expanding with a separate project with 505 Games, likely a second game. “505 Games and Remedy Entertainment have outlined high-level collaboration terms to further expand the Control franchise with a bigger-budget Control-game, to be agreed in more detail in the future.

CEO of Remedy Entertainment Tero Virtala had this to say on the announcement, “We have successfully collaborated with 505 Games for over four years and have both become stronger in our respective fields. We are happy to extend and deepen our partnership. This new agreement supports Remedy’s aims to expand our games into long-term franchises, create benchmark-setting games, strengthen our commercial capabilities and collaborate with great partners with whom we can succeed together.”

In recent weeks, it was reported that Remedy Entertainment is working with Epic Games to revive the Alan Wake IP with a sequel, as per GamesBeat’s Jeff Grubb. More recently, it was indicated by Remedy Entertainment’s financial report that the collaborative project is to commence fairly soon. You can read the initial report by heading here.
