Despite the odds that were up for the next-generation consoles, that being the Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation 5, the systems were still suspected to undersell in comparison to the Nintendo Switch. NPD Group analyst Mat Piscatella issued that due to limited production on behalf of the impact from COVID-19 lockdowns, the latest console hardware would miss its mark when going head first against the 2017 console.
And as it was presumed, the Nintendo Switch did happen to outperform its competitors during the holiday rush. Even more, the hybrid handheld happened to have outsold the two newest consoles alongside its predecessors when all combined in reality. As for Sony, the PlayStation company recorded about 4.5 million PlayStation 5’s were sold in its release window ending at the end of December.
