The past week for Minecraft remains very energetic in terms of the new releases for the series. The game itself welcomed its newest update ‘Spring to Life’ that offers a bevy of quality of life improvements to the core game. Of course, there is also the Warner Bros. film that is releasing in theaters this friday as well.
In collaboration with McDonald’s, there is a new line of meals for fans of all age groups. It announced A Minecraft Movie Meal and Happy Meal. Both offers a premium meal & toy for children & adults respectively. This week also signifies April Fool’s: a tradition that Mojang Studios has entertained with screensavers & potato-centric updates in the past.
This year, Mojang Studios reveals the newest feature to commemorate the holiday is with the ‘Craftmine’ update which integrates roguelike gameplay to Minecraft. You can watch the trailer in the video below:
“Simply put, you’ll now be able to craft your own mines! Craft+Mine – get it? And by “mines” we mean levels (but after countless hours of meetings (and fika – hm… can you do a parenthesis within a parenthesis? turns out you can) we came up with this nifty name for the update, and there’s no chance in Nether that we’ll go back to the drawing board now!)” Mojang Studios penned in the new blog post.
“Inside your mine, there are more resources to collect, which you can use to create even more astonishing mines! All you have to do is survive long enough to reach the exit. Or not survive… well, you do have to survive, but how difficult surviving is really depends on the elements of the world you created.
Actually, it’s not YOU who created it, it was the Mine Crafter, but it wasn’t really the Mine Crafter either, it’s just code, you know, dev code, it’s not a real machine, it’s not like we created a real machine in real life, and then managed to put that into the game, no way, but hopefully you’ll have a good time! And that’s all there is to it: just dive into the mine and see if you can find the exit, and once you’ve found the exit you can generate the next one!:
