Arriving in September, Starfield was met with a wave of users that followed Bethesda. And after a promise announcement back in 2018 for the first IP in two decades, players were ready to jump into this expansive space epic. At launch, Xbox Game Pass was met with the largest bump in new subscribers thanks to the game’s release.
And by December, the game was recorded to entertaining more than 12 million users since its fall debut. However, there was a fall off for the game since then entering 2024. At the start of the year, the game was already overtaken by Arrowhead Game Studios’ Helldivers 2 then. But more is expected from Starfield with new updates coming later in the year.
This past week, the game welcomed a new performance update that brings the game’s framerate output to 60hz alongside a bevy of quality of life improvements. TrueAchievements reports that player activity surrounding Starfield has faced an incline in users since the update for the game went live on May 15th.
“Our latest gameplay chart shows that since the arrival of May 15’s major update, Starfield has leapt up nine places to re-join the top 20 with a very respectable 72% boost in Xbox players,” the website writes. And although Bethesda is most noted for plenty of its releases arriving only at 30hz for decades, the decision now to follow this tradition did leave fans mixed on Starfield – especially with new hardware illustrating more performance is tangible for these games.
Looking ahead, Starfield is preparing to release its first expansion add-on later this year. In that, ‘Shattered Space’ is prepared to arrive in the latter half of the year. What’s more, mod support is also promised to ship for Starfield as well in 2024. You can read the full report by heading here.
