Although developer Supermassive Games is noted for its thrilling PlayStation 4 exclusive Until Dawn, the firm has since then branched into multiplatform territory with its Bandai Namco-publisher The Dark Pictures anthology series. The team most recently released The Dark Pictures: House of Ashes this past year with plans for another game in the pipeline.
It was in a later reveal that the next installment for ‘Season One’ will be The Dark Pictures: The Devil in Me. But what else is on the way? Well, the firm has previously shared it was working on unique content for Stadia when partnered with Google previously. But, Stadia Games & Entertainment closed with no word on the project. Additionally, the firm welcomed a 30 percent investment from Nordic Games entailing more projects are on the way.
Earlier this year, Twitter user @the_marmolade uncovered five listings from Supermassive Games in Europe. All are for The Dark Pictures Anthology counting The Dark Pictures: The Craven Man, The Dark Pictures Presents: O Death, The Dark Pictures: Directive 8020, The Dark Pictures: Intercession, and The Dark Pictures: Winterfold were filed.
As noted previously with the fourth game on the way – The Dark Pictures: The Devil in Me – Supermassive Games is dividing its releases into ‘Seasons’ moving forward. But looking back, the developer told Game Informer that it had 8 mapped ahead for The Dark Pictures Anthology in its infancy ahead of The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan. Now, there are a total of nine when all accounted for.
Determining when the firm will deliver its next shipment of games is suspected to take place in fall 2022 with The Dark Pictures: The Devil in Me. However, following is assumed to be with one of the next trademarked projects, but there is room to also suspect its previous Stadia project could surface from a different publisher later on.
What are you hoping to see next from Supermassive Games?
