The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Might Be Some Of The Last Major Releases For Nintendo Switch, According To Known Insiders

More than five years after the release of the Nintendo Switch, many viewing the success of this hybrid handheld console could not predict the impact it would make on the industry. Especially when the hardware is completely inferior to the competition, it still sells beyond belief. Currently sitting at 114.33 million units, it is understood to face yet another plentiful holiday season as well.

But looking ahead, many expect a ‘Pro’ model to be on the way. In the past, it was discovered the OLED Model featured a HDMI 2.0 port which suggest potential 4K output is underway. Not to mention Game Freak hiring posts pointing at work for newer hardware as well. However, a stronger system might not be on the table, but instead a completely new generation is on the way, says Digital Foundry.

From a string of tweets online, prolific faces are now sharing a similar story. Using The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it could be one of the last few major releases for the Nintendo Switch before the new console generation. Gamesindustry.biz head Christopher Dring says in an exchange recently:

“From what I’m hearing I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo starts talking about new hardware by 2024. I’m not convinced another huge first-party game other than Zelda is left on Switch,” Video Game Chronicles founder Andy Robinson also chimes in on the topic. But, this is simply hearsay with no official proof or evidence confirming the matter.

Alongside Tears of the Kingdom, Pikmin 4 is another anticipated release coming later in 2023 as well which could be part of the send off for Nintendo Switch. Recently, a leak went out which potentially revealed the official The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom OLED model. You can read the full report by heading here.
