As for where the stance on Gearbox Software (Entertainment) is following the merge of the company with Embracer Group, it is currently uncertain. However, there is nothing to be concerned in regards to pre-existing franchises. In that, the firm went on to press that namely Borderlands will continue, but through a deal with publisher 2K, of course.
More interesting is when news regarding a new project dubbed ‘Wonderlands’ surfaced through online discussions earlier in 2021. The game at the time was said to be a standalone starring Tiny Tina herself. However, it was originally debunked by the developer’s CEO who said that the studio would not outsource such a project. But, that is only partially true as Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands was officially announced at Summer Game Fest.
With a early 2022 release window, it is presumed more footage and an accurate release date will be handled at some point later on. In a new gameplay trailer featured at the PlayStation 5 Showcase, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is to arrive in late March next year. You can watch the new footage in the video below:
“Embark on an epic adventure full of whimsy, wonder, and high-powered weaponry! Magic, bullets, and broadswords collide across this chaotic fantasy world brought to life by the unpredictable Tiny Tina,” developer Gearbox Software pens for the game’s overview.
“Roll your own multiclass hero and loot, shoot, slash, and cast your way through outlandish monsters and loot-filled dungeons on a quest to stop the tyrannical Dragon Lord. Join the party, throw on your adventuring boots, and be Chaotic Great!” The studio also introduces multiple version of the game available for pre-order: Next-Level Edition, and Chaotic Great Edition with respective perks to each version.
