When entertaining what the Assassin’s Creed series has to offer this generation, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the first mainline entry to do so, for now. At the recent PlayStation Showcase last week, Ubisoft Montreal shared the game’s launch aimed for this October. The new game is a prequel to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla following the story of Basim as he climbs the ranks in Baghdad. Even more, the game is only priced at $50 since it is not a major RPG like prior entries.
Additionally, the publisher is priming its plans for more Assassin’s Creed elsewhere. And by elsewhere, we mean virtual reality. One report from Insider Gaming told that Assassin’s Creed Nexus – the canceled Oculus Quest title – is still planned for an announcement. Second, a follow-up with more levels & assassins is also being discussed. This plays in part as more talent is said to be hired to expand the IP, one earnings call shared.
At Thursday’s Meta Quest Showcase, Ubisoft properly unveiled Assassin’s Creed Nexus. However, the ‘announcement’ stands more as a teaser. Ubisoft does press plans to share more is being saved for the upcoming Ubisoft Forward being held on June 12th. “Ubisoft announced during today’s Showcase that it’s bringing Assassin’s Creed Nexus to the Meta Quest Store later this year. You’ll have to wait just a bit longer for details, though,” Meta shares.
This new project is amongst other already announced Assassin’s Creed titles already in the mix. Last fall, Ubisoft announced three other titles: Project Red, Project Hexe, and Project Jade. The trio of games is said to be part of the greater Assassin’s Creed Infinity initiative bridging new releases to one another.
As per other announcements from Meta, the Meta Quest 3 is now official. The new headset is said to be priced at $499 and with the announcement promises the Meta Quest 2 128 GB is to face a price drop back to $299. You can read the full report by heading here.
