The Nintendo Switch 2 continues to be a discussed topic for the past few years. Only these couple of months did it really offer substance with the official reveal and new Direct presentation in April. Confirming the system to launch this June, and now, pre-orders for the new console is to officially go live on April 24th later this month.
One of the most excited partners for the new system is Microsoft. In the past, we’ve witnessed the Xbox firm support the platform with its titles like Cuphead & Ori and the Blind Forest. During its campaign to acquire Activision, boss Phil Spencer did press to support Call of Duty on Nintendo Switch as it did with Minecraft. Spencer even spoke on supporting the new system as well in a more recent interview.
Now speaking with Variety, Spencer elaborates on his viewpoint for Xbox being a collaborator with Nintendo. This comes after recent rumors point towards more Xbox first-party releases coming to the system. One of those being Halo: The Master Chief Collection, as claimed. “So we’ve been supporting Switch 1, I want to support Switch 2. Nintendo has been a great partner. We think it is a unique way for us to reach players who aren’t PC players, who aren’t players on Xbox.”
Spencer continues: “It lets us continue to grow our community of people that care about the franchises that we have, and that’s really important for us to make sure we continue to invest in our games. I’m really a big believer in what Nintendo means for this industry and us continuing to support them. And getting the support from them for our franchises, I think, is an important part of our future.”
It is no secret the Microsoft is exploring more of its games elsewhere beyond Xbox – i.e. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle launching on PlayStation this week. Previously, the Xbox company elaborated on its effort at GDC with the mindset to expand to every feasible peripheral to make Xbox available on. You can read the full report by heading here.
