In the post-mortem for the game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows continues to unravel ongoing disputes online about the state of it. From Video Game Chronicle, the outlet according to sources says that it is record being Ubisoft’s second biggest launch for Assassin’s Creed. Additionally, legendary developer Hideki Kamiya shared in an X post that the game is bouncing back from initial controversies as he defended the game.
From Ubisoft officially, the game has sold over 1 million units in its first day. Within the few days, Ubisoft returned to announce that Assassin’s Creed Shadows has sold more than 2 million copies. Now via SteamDB, the game now sits with the highest concurrent player count on the platform which dismounts the previous record holder – Assassin’s Creed Odyssey.
On the website, SteamDB reveals that Assassin’s Creed Shadows sits at 64,825 players for its all-time peak. This overtakes the older Assassin’s Creed Odyssey which held the record at 62,069. Compared to other titles, Assassin’s Creed Shadows towers over other entries like Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Assassin’s Creed Unity, and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag also.
Prior to release, Ubisoft did tout that Assassin’s Creed Shadows was breaking records for its pre-launch pre-orders that did dictate how much momentum the release would face. Also, the game was showcasing its extended reach for mobile gaming with support for Xbox Play Anywhere & Steam Deck both ready at launch which could benefit its performance..
