After the recent releases of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle & Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation 5, plus both Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II and Gears of War: Reloaded later this summer, it is no question the new approach for Microsoft is kicking down barriers. There is also a new identity that the Xbox firm is trying to establish. Previously, there was a scare that Game Pass would be rebranded ‘Microsoft Game Pass’, but insiders debunked the swelling rumors.
What is becoming more noticeable is its reapproach for PC. With Windows 11, Microsoft is adamant to delivering a more suiting environment for its titles natively through the operating system offerings. This would also play in hand with the handheld plans for the company. However, recent claims now tell that the system is on the backburner indefinitely as of recently.
Despite that, the refiguring of gaming on Windows is starting to reveal itself. Firstly is the announcement for Gears of War: Reloaded earlier in May. The reveal named ‘Xbox PC’ as the platform for its new title. Now, another game is pushing out the same surname as well for MIO: Memories In Orbit. The new trailer mentions ‘Xbox PC’ also.
This choice plays in part with Microsoft’s continued investment for multiplatform-owned users. According to previous data collected, the Xbox firm shared that younger generations of players are adopting this new multi device playstyle. This plays in hand with the new direction that Xbox has been setting itself as it intends to bring your library to as many devices possible.
And, Xbox Play Anywhere has deepened its roots as of late. According to Microsoft in an announcement this March, the program has instilled itself for more than 1,000 titles since launching roughly a decade ago. You can read the full report by heading here.
